Resolving Tax Portal Issue for the Benefit of Ghanaian Taxpayers
Addressing the minor challenge in the Ghana Revenue Authority’s online tax portal to ensure a smoother and more transparent tax filing process for citizens.
Our organization recently took action to address a minor issue with the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) taxpayer web portal. Many users were misled by the system’s confirmation message after filing their tax, which initially stated “Thank You, Saved”, mistakenly believing they had completed the filing process. This confusion led to unnecessary penalties for individuals who thought they had successfully filed their taxes.
Recognizing the impact this had on taxpayers, we pursued the issue on their behalf. Our team brought this matter directly to the GRA headquarters, after engaging with various offices over a three-month period.
The case was eventually escalated to the commissioner-general, who took steps to investigate and address the issue. As a result that, the system was corrected which now states “You’re Almost Done”, providing a clearer, more user-friendly experience for all taxpayers.
By pushing for this change, we aimed to ensure that Ghanaians can file their taxes without confusion or fear of penalties, ultimately supporting a more transparent and efficient tax system. This effort reflects our commitment to advocating for solutions that benefit the wider community and improve public services.
